The AD633 IC is a four-quadrant analog multiplier with differential X and Y inputs, and a high impedance summing input (Z). with the Z input connected to the carrier we obtain a double sideband full carrier modulated signal (DSBFC), if the Z input is connected to the ground the modulator produces a Double-sideband suppressed carrier signal (DSBSC) eliminating the carrier and transmitting the sidebands only. Here it's tested in both mode with a speech txt file as input signal.

a modulating signal, in this case a 2 khz sinusoidal frequency, modulates the amplitude of the 100 khz carrier.This modulation is also called double sideband full carrier (DSBFC) and produces in the spectrum a fcarrier+fmodulating, and fcarrier-fmodulating frequency components, with a bandwidth of 2*fmodulating, 4 khz. The operational amplifier is a LF411.

This circuit is a PCM system that uses 4 of the 8 bits available. The input signal is a 1Khz sinusoidal sampled at 8khz, which is the rate used in the public switched telephone network (PSTN), and the ADC parallel output it's converted to a serial bit stream. To show the recovered signal, a serial to parallel converter and a DAC is attached to the transmitter. The DAC output is low pass filtered.

A DC bias and a modulating signal is applied to the pin1 AMSI (Amplitude Modulating Signal Input). The internal impedance is approximately 100k. Output amplitude varies linearly with the applied voltage at Pin 1, for values of DC bias at this pin, within 14 volts of VCC/2.
