Description

SPICE simulation of a digital sine oscillator. Manipulating the z-transform of the output cos(nθ) leads to a difference equation in the time domain. An impulse signal lasting for a very short time is used to “kick-start” the oscillator into producing sustained oscillations. To produce sustained oscillation in a system, the poles are located on the unit circle and the system is said marginally stabile. For the values used in the simulation, the transfer function is H(z) = 1/(1-1.4142*z^-1+z^-2).
